Lazy Sunday Blog

Haven’t been on LJ for awhile because I found yet another way to change my story, which means the ‘new’ WIP is waiting again.  Not sure if it is such a good idea to keep changing it or not, but I think I am making it better.  Who knows.  Or I am just addicted to revising, which I think I may be.

Just finished Thirteen Reasons Why by Jay Asher. This one needs to linger in my memory for awhile before I can read any other stories.

So, because I can’t go without reading, I’m reading a self-help. I’ll let you know if I have an epiphany on why I eat when I am not hungry.

This has been the most unproductive, lazy weekend in my recent memory.  I didn’t even turn on the computer yesterday.  My daughter is sick, so while hubby and son went to a family party yesterday, we laid on the couch all day and watched movies.

First we watched

Then we watched

And last, we watched

She ate chicken soup and saltines and Sprite while I hid chocolate from her, ate the chocolate, and the saltines, and the Sprite.  Sort of forgot about the book I’m currently reading.  Oh well, tomorrow is Monday, I’ll remember it tomorrow!

Numb Butts, Chocolate and Rejection

As far as New Year’s Resolutions go, I haven’t started yet. I haven’t posted on LJ, or exercised, and I’m sure I didn’t put ‘eat more chocolate’ on my list, but that’s exactly what I’ve done.

However, I am going blind each day, and my butt is numb from my nights, hunched over this here machine. I cherish the time after work, when the house is empty, and the nights, after the kids get to bed and hubby falls asleep in front of the TV.

I’ve found new ways to fix my story, before I send out more queries. I’m now into the 70,000 range for word count! This is very exciting–my first draft was over 110,000 words.

My daughter just experienced her first creative rejection–she auditioned for a musical at a community theatre, but didn’t get a part. She sang part of a song from Mamma Mia the Musical, read from a script, and had to play/banter with the director. All in front of about 30 people, and judges sitting at a table “American Idol” style. I was so in awe of her. She performed really well. I could never, ever, in a zillion years do anything like that, and I felt so proud of her, it made me cry 😦

Feeling that rejection with her stung more than any of the agent rejections I’ve recieved.

She got over it quick. Tears for five minutes, and the off to play the Wii.

She’s 9. 🙂

Tuesday

Woo-woo, I am back on the query track!  After cinching my story ending to a better close, and hacking off another 6,000 words, I am back to querying!  Well, after I re-write the dang thing.  I decided my revised story must have a sparkly new query to go along.  So, who wants to write it for me?  Ha ha 🙂
